The proposed Kampong Cham Mekong River Bridge undertaken by the Company kicked off at the bell rung by Cambodian Prime Minister, Hun Sen and China’s ambassador to Cambodia, Mr. Xiong Bo. Minister of Cambodian Public Transportation Department and Governor of Kampong Cham Province also attended the groundbreaking ceremony. Mr. Prime Minister said in his speech that the Kampong Cham Bridge will be the third Mekong River Bridge built by China (after the Vihea Sour Mekong River Bridge, 2011 and the Stung Treng Mekong Reiver Bridge, 2015) thanks to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, making it another landmark symbolizing the friendship between the two. The bridge, stretching 1131m long with 11 abutments and 40 super-long piles as its supporting structure, will add a whole new chapter to Mekong River’s waterway transportation history and inject great impetus to local economic development.
